YWCA Brandon 100th Anniversary
The YWCA Brandon celebrated its 100th Anniversary in the Brandon and Westman Area. We kicked off the year of celebration with the 20th Women of Distincion Awards Dinner on March 1, 2007.
On June 14th, we held an old-fashioned Garden Party in the courtyard.Decorated chairs, created by local artists and celebrities, were auctioned off and proceeds went towards our programs and services. We were pleased that Paulette Senior, CEO YWCA Canada, was able to attend the festivities.
August 10th marked our biannual Golf Tournament at Glen Lea Golf Course. A fun day had by all.
In September, the YWCA Brandon was proud to host the YWCA Western Regional Meetings, where all YWCA's and YM/YWCA's from across Western Canada attended the meeting in our fair city.
We ended our year of festivities with the 4th Annual Young Women's Conference in October at Neelin High School. Over 70 girls from the Westman area attended. The day included Winnipeg's Teen Talk, Brandon Youth for Christ Gym Blast, and former Star FM morning host Heather Prosak.
